Due to the spout issue, I ended up not using this kettle for pour-over coffee after trying it several times.
Boiling water on the stove for way too long or using a Keurig to make hot water may still give you a drinkable result, but if you're steeping at a way-too-hot-or-cold temperature, you end up losing some of the flavor nuances of the tea or coffee. I’m concerned after reading a warning on a Cosori box that there might be lead or bpa contamination. When your water begins to boil, the kettle’s spout begins to whistle a charmingly traditional way to let you know the hot water you need is ready. If the kettle is used frequently, it should undergo a descaling weekly—a process which is detailed in the manufacturer’s user manual.
It's narrow and doesn't take up too much space on my kitchen counter, and the matte black exterior fits right in with my other kitchenware (you can get it in silver, too—see below). If they function the same, then I don't see why I would spend 300% more for the same thing only 'prettier'. When we do have company I need to heat up the kettle multiple times to make enough coffee for guests. There is a Max Fill line etched into the inside of the Cosori Electric Kettle two inches down from the top. If you are looking for a large capacity, visually attractive, easy to pour kettle that won't cost you an arm and a leg, then the Cosori Electric Kettle is worth a look.
